Located just outside Asheville, Inner Space Yoga offers quality props for yoga studios and home use. Their colorful and unique yoga props – bolsters, eye pillows, zafus, and sandbags – are hand made, to order, using beautiful fabrics from around the world.

The Inner Space Yoga website needed to showcase these fabric and allow for custom ordering of bolsters in three different styles, eye pillows in two styles, and zafus.

As many of the fabrics are available in limited quantities, updating and adding in new fabrics with ease was a must!

Inner Space Yoga was created in 2007 by Angela McWilliams, to meet the need for quality, domestically manufactured yoga props. All designs were developed and refined with the input of Angela’s teachers and fellow yogins, with the goal of creating yoga props that are durable, well-made, supportive and, above all, beautiful. Many of the materials, such as the cotton batting, are sourced locally, and the products are sewn by either Angela herself, or local sewers.

As with most yoga folks I know, Angela is encouraging to everyone to get started with yoga and realized that many people might not understand what a Round, Oval or Flat Bolster meant and how to select a style when ordering. Therefore it was also important that the website contain information to assist customers in making a bolster selection. The WordPress site we customized for Angela provides her with static pages for such info, along with her shop, social media links, blog, and basic wholesale inquiry form. The site also contains a slideshow of bolsters in use to inspire you.

Visit Inner Space Yoga and ooh and ahh over the beautiful fabrics, then make a selection and soon Angela will be handcrafting your colorful yoga prop.

How could I not have a great time designing for a business called PLANET ART!?!

An illustrated logo with influences from pulp SciFi covers – fun – owners, Brandy and Dave – double fun – getting to also design a rack card, car graphic, t-shirts, event posters and a WordPress site – okay, you get the idea, fun.

Planet Art is a different kind of frame shop and gallery located in the River Arts Galaxy in Asheville, NC. They have an Art Exchange where you can buy and sell (for cash or store credit) gently used art, a gallery wall to feature local artists, and of course do an excellent job framing.

Brandy is one of our star WordPress clients. She dove right in and mucked about with pages and post almost immediately after getting the login for her site. She has used photos well and included lots of relevant info. She has also been savvy about cross-linking to her Chair Repair website and included some of the basics on chair caning on the Planet Art site. We touch base with her every few months to see if questions have come up, and to tweak css here and there as needed and to add items to the sidebar which requires some html knowledge. My bet is she’ll soon master that as well.

BookWorks is a community resource for print and book arts located in West Asheville, North Carolina. Through classes, exhibits, lectures, and annual events BookWorks has become a premier gathering place for individuals with an interest in handmade books, papermaking, printmaking, and letterpress in the Southeastern US. We have had the pleasure of working with them on their website as they have grown and their needs have changed.

The BookWorks site is the most complex WordPress site we’ve completed to date. It incorporates blog style studio updates, static information pages, a shopping cart for online workshop registration, calendar of events, as well as instructor bios and separate areas for co-op members and their annual BookOpolis festival.

It was essential that people visiting the site could obtain information regarding upcoming workshops and events in a variety of ways.

Upcoming workshops are listed in chronological order on the “Workshops” page, with listings dropping off after they have occurred.

A visitor can select to view workshops by type. Examples: box making, encaustic, letterpress, papermaking, printmaking. The sorted workshops are presented in chronological order with older classes dropping off as they occur.

The sidebar calendar incorporates rollover features to quickly view what workshops and events are happening on any particular day. Click through directly to the related items is enabled.

The bio for each instructor includes a link to view all workshops taught by that instructor. Again presented in chronological order with past classes dropping off the list.

Having multiple ways an interested student can access and cross reference workshops takes advantage of the different ways people search for information. Some come to BookWorks wanting to learn a particular skill, so sorting by workshop type is an ideal method for them. Others may be visiting Asheville or be hosting visitors to Asheville on particular days, so accessing the information via the calendar is ideal. And others may have taken a class with a particular instructor and desire to learn from them again.

Registration for workshops is accessed directly from each description listing. The site also includes a “Store” page where BookWorks can offer support materials for classes.

BookWorks staff has embraced the new site whole heartily, actively posting news about upcoming events and daily studio activities. The new site has provided them with the tools to communicate in an engaging way with others interested in book arts and related fields. The site remains current and relevant.

Spellbound Children’s Bookshop is an independent bookstore in downtown Asheville specializing in children’s books. A website with full content management allows them a lot of flexibility in communicating to their clients and supporting their excellent customer service.

They can post events such as book clubs, author signings and story times, all accessible through sidebar lists and a graphical calendar interface. Of great importance is their ability to post recommendations, reviews and previews of books, sorting them by age groupings.

In styling the site, we took cues from their existing logo, which is fun and dynamic. Giving some animation to the header on first load, bold colors throughout and a background that ties into the logo.

If you are in downtown Asheville, stop in. They are located at 19 Wall Street, or visit Spellbound online at: www.spellboundchildrensbookshop.com
